A new voluntary sector and social economy research association is being launched in Canada.
The association will be called ANSER - Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research/ ARES - Association de recherche des organismes sans but lucratif et de l'économie sociale. This Canadian association is for those who have an interest in research that pertains broadly to nonprofit organizations and the social economy.
ANSER is working to:
• build a collaborative community of scholars and researchers; and
• to develop a Canadian body of knowledge that encompasses such fields as community economic development, philanthropy, nonprofits management, volunteering, social and environmental accounting, government/voluntary sector relationships, social movements, citizen engagement, and civil society.
The first inaugural ANSER-ARES conference will be part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences 2008 from June 4-6, 2008 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
