ANSER/ARES: New Voluntary Sector and Social Economy Research Association in Canada

A new voluntary sector and social economy research association is being launched in Canada.

The association will be called ANSER - Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research/ ARES - Association de recherche des organismes sans but lucratif et de l'├ęconomie sociale. This Canadian association is for those who have an interest in research that pertains broadly to nonprofit organizations and the social economy.

ANSER is working to:
• build a collaborative community of scholars and researchers; and
• to develop a Canadian body of knowledge that encompasses such fields as community economic development, philanthropy, nonprofits management, volunteering, social and environmental accounting, government/voluntary sector relationships, social movements, citizen engagement, and civil society.

The first inaugural ANSER-ARES conference will be part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences 2008 from June 4-6, 2008 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
